For Today Daily Meditation

Do you believe there is a fundamental shift occuring in human society?
Let me clarify a little more, here’s my own personal thoughts:
In the 21st century, this day and age, I believe too many people are getting accustomed to the “instant gratification” trap. People are always wanting things to happen quickly. Nature doesn’t work that way, it always takes everything slowly and patiently. Also, with the growing technology and everything, people are absorbing and processsing information in massive quantities daily. No doubt we are living in the information age. All in all, I believe society and people in general are “moving too fast” and doing things too quicky that we don’t really just slow down, take a breather, and enjoy the simple things in life or at least do some thoughtful meditation. I could go on with many other points, but I’ll stop here for sanity’s sake.
What’s your thoughts on society today and the future we are heading towards? (whether good or bad)
Not only do we have instant gratification, but many expect instant wealth and assets without having to work for them.
Too many people, including our Congress, think it is okay to rip other citizens off in order to increase one’s personal wealth. Note how little time Madoff got for his enormous crime. We are too lenient on “white collar” crime as compared to “blue collar” crime. While white collar crime does much more damage to many more people, blue Collar crime usually involves one other person. As in Madoff, the white collar crime steals from many, many people. Before Madoff there was Millican, who spent very little time in jail for ripping millions and millions from people and retirement funds.
What this tells some Americans is that it is okay to live the “high” life on other peoples money and, if caught, spend a few years in a “federal country club.”
Where is honesty, integrity, character, morals, all the value systems we were taught as kids? Lawmakers, judges, attorneys, and high society seem to have lost them. So Sad!!! And, unfortunately the morals of the rich seem to have filtered down to the middle and lower classes, i.e. why should we work when we should have everything we wish for handed to us on a silver platter, after all, we are entitled!!!
Only another great depression will be the equalizer – where both rich and poor will have to struggle to meet their daily needs, and all these “entitlement” attitudes will go by the wayside. With the stupid Congressmen we now have in Washington, that time may be coming soon!!!

A Theory of Everything: An Integral Vision for Business, Politics, Science, and Spirituality $15.95 Wilber’s most timely, accessible, and practical work to date. Here is a concise, comprehensive overview of Wilber’s revolutionary thought and its application in today’s world. Wilber has long been hailed as one of the most important thinkers of our time, but—until now—his work has seemed inaccessible to the general reader who lacks a background in consciousness studies or evolutionary theory. Integral Vision will allow a general audience to fully understand what all the excitement has been about. In clear, non-technical language, Wilber presents complex, cutting-edge theories and models that integrate the realms of body, mind, soul, and spirit. He then demonstrates how these theories and models can be applied to real world problems. Finally, Wilber discusses daily practices that readers take up in order to apply this integrative vision to their own, everyday lives. Wilber begins by presenting a leading model of human evolution, a model called "spiral dynamics." He then goes on to summarize his ground-breaking "all-level, all-quadrant" model for integrating the seemingly contradictory realms of science and religion—the "all-level, all-quadrant" model has already been adopted by leading thinkers in a variety of fields. In a chapter entitle "The Real World," Wilber shows how these rather abstract theories and models are being applied to real-world issues such as politics, medicine, business, education, and the environment. Wilber goes on to present a collection of maps of the Kosmos. These are broader models that can integrate the various worldviews that have been developed around the world throughout the ages. The finalchapter of the book, "One Taste," proposes that readers take up an "integral transformative practice" such as meditation to help them to apply and develop this integral vision in their personal, everyday lives. |

Calm Amid Chaos: An Executive Guide To Reducing Stress Through Meditation $22.95 Charles Graybar began studying various meditation techniques. At first, his initial studies were under an aging Buddhist monk. Graybar understood from his own experiences that students of meditation that come from the west, due in part to the lifestyle challenges faced on a daily basis, would not be likely to respond most effectively to traditional eastern teachings of meditation. Due the ever-increasing demand for Graybar to teach his meditation techniques to a wide-ranging audience that spans corporate CEOs to postal workers to stay at home parents–all seeking to find meaningful levels of inner calm amidst the assaults of a daily existence in the world today, Graybar wrote Calm Amid Chaos. |
